In the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit!

We congratulate you all, brothers and sisters, on the Great Church Holiday, on the day of the apostles Peter and Paul!

These two apostles, as follows from the troparion, the church hymn dedicated to them, especially bothered in the work of the Christian sermon, they "educated the whole world with their teachings and from all corners of the earth brought people to Christ".

How did humanity need that light, true doctrine, who left God, who decided that without his commandments he would live better, who eventually came to spreading all evil, to despair and despair. The apostles preached not only with words, but with deeds, with their lives that they dedicated to service, witnessed the faith and their martyrdom.

The faith of the Apostle Peter in the fact that Christ is the Incarnate God the Son, has laid down in the foundation of the Church. The apostle Paul showed and taught what life should be by faith in Christ. In chapter 13 of the Epistle to the Corinthians, we read: "If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but have not love, then I am a ringing copper or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and I know all the secrets, and have all the knowledge and all faith, so I can rearrange the mountains, and do not have love, then I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions and give my body for burning, and have no love, there's no use for me. Love is long-suffering, merciful, love does not envy, love does not boast, it does not take pride, does not riot, does not seek its own, does not irritate, does not think evil, does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; everything covers, believes everything, believes everything, tolerates everything. Love never fails, though prophecies will cease, and tongues will be silent, and knowledge will be abolished. "

The ardent faith of the Apostle Peter manifested itself more than once. When he saw the Lord, he hurried to Him along the waters of the Sea of Galilee. We will imitate him in this. We will follow Christ, believing that whatever difficulties we encounter, the Lord will support us. We will imitate and repent the apostle. He, on his weakness, not understanding what he is doing, on the night when Christ was taken into custody, three times from Him denied. In the morning, when the rooster cried, the apostle remembered the words of the Lord that even before the cock crowed, you would deny Me three times. Remembering, he wept bitterly in remorse. Although the Risen Lord forgave him, we know from Tradition that every time a cock crowed, the apostle Peter began to repent with tears.

How many times have we, realizing that we are committing sin, have not only denied God's commandments by word, but by deed, from the duty of a Christian to be a warrior of Christ? Let us, at least to a small extent, imitate the apostle's repentance.

We will imitate the Apostle Paul in his love for God and his neighbor. The apostle dedicated his whole life to preaching. We will also try to let the people around us, seeing our life, our good deeds, mercy, spiritual joy, modesty, patience, come to faith in God. "So let your light shine before men, that they see your good deeds and glorify your Heavenly Father" (Mt 5, 16). The apostles fulfilled these words of Christ, and we follow them. I can do everything in Christ who strengthens me. (Phil. 4, 13), testifies to the Apostle Paul.
